David McArdle

Languages: English, Russian
Countries Lived In: UK, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Cambodia, Georgia, Turkey, and Albania
After completing an M.Phil. at the University of Oxford in 2011, David relocated to Kyrgyzstan—a country that sparked much of his academic curiosity. There, he worked as a researcher, monitored elections, and studied the Russian language. In subsequent years, David divided his time between Bishkek, Bangkok, and Tbilisi—an unconventional combination that continues to shape his diverse culinary repertoire. During the rare moments when he is not immersed in his work at ALBA, David indulges in reading for pleasure, exploring remote and lesser-known destinations, and documenting his experiences in some of the world’s most obscure and out-of-the-way locations.
