ALBA conducts all correspondence via email to ensure clear, professional, and efficient communication with clients. This approach not only facilitates timely exchanges but also maintains an accurate and transparent record of all interactions. This ensures that both ALBA and the client have a reliable reference for any details, updates, or agreements throughout the editing and proofreading process.

The choice of language variant is entirely up to the client. Whether American or British English is preferred, clients are encouraged to specify their preference before the work begins. The document will then be edited/proofread accordingly, ensuring consistency and adherence to the chosen standard throughout.

The pricing for editing/proofreading services is calculated based on a rate per 400 words. However, specific types of documents, such as CVs and cover letters, are charged at a fixed, predetermined price. This approach ensures clarity and transparency in the cost structure, tailored to the nature of the document being reviewed.

The decision to charge an additional fee for expedited returns is made on a case-by-case basis. This depends on several factors, including the length of the document and the timing of the work, such as whether it falls on weekdays or weekends, and during or outside standard working hours. Each request is assessed individually to ensure fairness and transparency.

In most cases, footnotes are excluded from the chargeable word count, unless they are descriptive in nature and contain substantive content requiring significant editing or proofreading. This approach ensures that clients are only charged for text that necessitates detailed review and refinement.

For a variety of important reasons, the accuracy and formatting of references are ultimately the responsibility of the client. While the editing and proofreading service can review references for consistency and adherence to a specified style guide, ensuring their accuracy (e.g., verifying sources, authors, or publication details) remains the client’s responsibility.

Samples of ALBA’s editing and proofreading work are available upon request. These examples showcase the high standards of clarity, precision, and adherence to style guides that clients can expect. Due to confidentiality agreements, all samples are anonymised to protect client privacy while providing a clear representation of the quality and scope of the services offered.

Clients are strongly encouraged to submit their documents in Microsoft Word format. This format allows for the use of advanced editing tools, such as tracked changes and comments, ensuring a transparent and efficient review process. Submitting documents in Word format also facilitates easier integration of feedback and revisions, ultimately enhancing the quality and accuracy of the editing/proofreading service.
