editing & proofreading

Each job is unique and requires a novel approach that no software can yet handle (sorry Grammarly but we firmly believe that the human mind still rules supreme in offering critical feedback and suggestions on ways documents can be improved upon – and our clients agree!). Among these, the following principles give some idea of what our editing and proofreading services entail:

Above all else, every mistake, error, typo, or whatever other grammatical mishap will be found and duly resolved. All clients can rest assured that their fully edited/proofread document will be mistake-free!

Audience is crucial. At the forefront of our mind is what audience the document is intended for. For instance, the language and tone used in a government policy paper will be different to that of a blog post, and we are always cognizant of this.

As the years roll on, we’ve become increasingly skilled at spotting factual errors and this informal “fact-checking” is now included as part of our editing/proofreading services. Whether through accident or misinformation, factual errors can significantly decrease the credibility of any document, so we’re always vigilant in highlighting these through our reliable feedback mechanism – the trusted comment box courtesy of track changes.

Naturally, the client’s needs come first. For example, if they wish for the document to be reduced in size, we’ll highlight parts deemed superfluous, or streamline dense text and render it in a more digestible format. Less can be more, and so we specialize in reframing convoluted text in a more reader-friendly manner.

FAQ

All changes are made and comments added using ‘track changes’ – therefore everything done to the document is clearly visible to the client upon its return.

A typical document (2,000 – 10,000 words) can be returned fully edited/proofread within 2-4 days. Quicker turnarounds are also possible upon request.

As we place a strong emphasis on building trust with clients, payment is made after the job is completed. At that point, clients are issued an e-invoice for secure online payment, or a traditional invoice for bank transfer.
