Alan Freeman                                             MA Honours, PhD

Alba Editing is owned and run by Alan Freeman.

I am an academic who studied English and Scottish Literature in my native Scotland, gaining an MA Honours from the University of Aberdeen, and a PhD from the University of Edinburgh. For eight years I have lived in Istanbul, Turkey where, as well as teaching English literature at Yeditepe University, I edit academic essays and dissertations, and articles for native and non-native English speaking clients, in particular Law offices in the city and for an Italian translation agency.
Among my academic publications are a book, several articles, and chapters in multi-authored books on literary topics; I have also contributed regular reviews of new poetry and fiction for a literary journal.
Before working at Yeditepe I was a lecturer and tutor for many years in Scotland, at the University of Edinburgh and Napier University, and Director of the Scottish Universities’ International Summer School.
My teaching has encompassed most areas of literature in English, from medieval to postmodern, and includes American literature, cultural studies, and literary theory; I have taught essay writing skills and general composition to students from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds.
As a former Psychiatric Nurse I can offer not only my editing skills and arts knowledge but also sensitive attention to your individual needs.

Published book: if you would like to know more about my own academic writing here is a link to my book Imagined Worlds: Fiction by Scottish Women 1900 – 1935
(Peter Lang, 2004).
